Online florist Bloom & Wild has announced that it is a certified B Corporation, receiving an outstanding score from B Lab.
The UK Growth 1000 retailer scored highly – achieving an impact score of 106.5, the minimum requirement is 80 – due to its work to only source flowers from responsible, community-focused growers; its carbon reduction efforts; and 100% recyclable or compostable packaging.
Aron Gelbard, co-founder and CEO at Bloom & Wild, said: “Over the last 10+ years that I’ve been building Bloom & Wild, I’ve always sought to ‘Lead Change for Good’ (one of our 4 Values).
“This has come in many forms, from obsessing over customer feedback since day one, through to pioneering the opt-out movement for sensitive occasions and proactively resending flowers that won’t make it on time.
“The B Corp movement requires us to think equally about People, Planet and Profit. And much of our innovation over the last few years has been with our Planet in mind. From selling replantable Christmas trees and tulip bulbs for several years and being an early industry adopter of proprietary AI to reduce waste, to more recent innovations such as pioneering the use of sea rather than air freight and setting up dedicated carbon budgets per bouquet.”
To celebrate becoming a B Corp, for every gift sold between 05 and 07 January Bloom & Wild will donate £1 to their Rewilding Innovation Fund. This will help fund new projects – which can range from rewilding urban sites in Newcastle, to researching lynx reintroduction in Scotland.
